Review

I have perhaps nothing negative to say about Tim Burton's ''Edward Scissorhands''. This film is so sweet, so sad that it remains truly memorable. I loved it, I truly loved ''Edward Scissorhands''. When we watch a film so fantastic, so beautiful as ''Edward Scissorhands'', we are moved. I was moved by this film's charm, it's imaginative story, and everything else.

Johnny Depp and Winona Ryder bring their characters to lives. Both give excellent performances. And their characters, Edward and Kim respectively, moved me. I was moved by both their sweetness, and especially their love for each other.

''Edward Scissorhands'' was the first collaboration of director Tim Burton with actor Johnny Depp. Like most of Tim Burton's movies, ''Edward Scissorhands'' has fantasy, weirdness, humor. But however, the heartwarming story and the beautiful ending easily make it one of the best movies Burton has directed.

The opening credits of this film are shown with a wonderful background, and with very praiseworthy music.

At the start of the film, a little girl asks her grandmother why it snows. The old grandmother tells the girl a story, the story of Edward Scissorhands.

In a mansion (which the little girl mentions as ''haunted'') once used to live an inventor, who invented perhaps many things, but his most remarkable invention was a man who had a pair of scissors instead of hands. But before he could give the man a real pair of hands, the inventor died.

The story shifts to a bright, sunny area. We are introduced to Peg Boggs, an Avon salesman. She notices a mansion on a hill. In front of the Gothic mansion is a beautiful garden, which amazes both Peg and the audience as well. The garden is really so beautiful, with beautiful flowers and decorations. Peg goes inside the Gothic mansion, and sees Edward, the man who has scissors in place of hands. Edward looks creepy, but we find him to be really timid and sweet. Peg feels pity, and takes him to her home, and introduces him to her family, consisting of her husband, a son Kevin, and a daughter Kim. Kim is camping with some friends.

Meanwhile, as days pass, Edward impresses neighbors through his skills. He uses his scissor hands for hedge-trimming and hair-cutting, which impresses them. Soon, he become famous. Meanwhile, Kim is back from the camping, and doesn't actually like Edward. But however, Edward has fallen in love with her...

But however, times don't always remain good. And things start going bad because of Kim's boyfriend Jim, the antagonist of the film. He frames Edward for robbery, and from that time, everything starts going bad. But on the other hand, Kim is also slowly falls in love with Edward...

The whole movie is sweet, touching, fantastic, and humorous. But the greatness of this film is mostly in the few last scenes of the movie. Those scenes are sometimes so sweet, sometimes violent, sometimes emotional, and overall, heartwarming! The last part of the film is made more wonderful, more lovelier by the performances of Johnny Depp, and more remarkably, that of Winona Ryder.

The film is truly enchanting and magical. As I mentioned before, Johnny Depp brings Edward Scissorhands to life. His performance as the timid, sweet Edward is truly praiseworthy. He stayed in the mansion alone for years. In the company of humans, he feels truly good. The costume and makeup used on this character are highly praiseworthy. Winona Ryder likewise gives a brilliant performance as Kim. What she does for Edward in some of the last scenes of the movie, truly impressed me.

The rest of the cast play their roles quite well. Dianne Wiest as the kindhearted Pegg is marvelous. Also present are Alan Arkin as her husband and Robert Oliveri as her son. Kathy Baker plays a neighbor who very flirtatious and even tries to seduce Edward. Anthony Michael Hall plays the antagonist Jim.

Music by Danny Elfman is wonderful. In the movie, you can hear wonderful background music playing. The excellent music contributes in making this film a great one. Similarly, like other Tim Burton's movies, the cinematography is amazing. Production design is good.

''Edward Scissorhands'' is an excellent movie and a must-watch. It's a beautiful and lovely film which may bring tears to your eyes. Certainly, ''Edward Scissorhands'' is among the best films directed by Tim Burton. So good, so amazing... Overall, I loved this movie!
