Plot synopsis
''Secrets & Lies'' tells the story of Hortense Cumberbatch, a successful black optometrist. After the death of her adoptive mother, Hortense starts looking for her birth mother. Her mother is in fact Cynthia Rose Purley, a working class white woman who works in a factory. Cynthia lives with her daughter Roxanne. Cynthia and Roxanne have a relation full of tensions. Cynthia's brother, Maurice, is a photographer. Maurice and his wife, Monica, also have a relation full of tension. The members of the Purley family do not have much good relationships with each other because of some secrets and lies. Hortense, meanwhile, is able to find Cynthia. Cynthia and Hortense become very good and close friends.Very soon after this, all the secrets and lies are revealed, one right after another...

My opinion
Secrets & Lies'' is, in one word, a great film. Everything, the story, the acting, everything was great. A great movie that really kept me looking at the screen and think ''What will happen next?'' The acting of Marianne Jean-Baptiste and Brenda Blethyn is highly remarkable. Really, it is one of my favorite movies and no doubt one of the best British movies ever made.
